The New Home Company, an Orange County-based developer, is expanding into the San Diego market with 133 new homes in the Civita community in Mission Valley.

“We’ve had our eye on San Diego for some time and when the opportunity to purchase land at Civita was presented to us we saw it as a prime location to plant our flag in the market,” said H. Lawrence Webb, chief executive officer.

“Our focus is on building homes where we will be rewarded for exceptional planning and architecture,” he added. “We strive to be in demographically strong locations where there is a growing job base. San Diego has these characteristics and we expect to be very successful here.”

Its Promontory project will be located on 8.7 acres at the highest point of Civita and inlude 133 three-story and single-story attached homes ranging from 1,401 to 2,188 square feet with up to three bedrooms and three and one-half baths.

Designs by the Woodley Architectural Group call for unobstructed views of Mission Valley through floor-to-ceiling windows in great rooms and master bedrooms.

Prices are expected to begin in the $700,000s and sales will start in the late summer.

Sudberry Properties is developing Civita on the site of an old sand and gravel quarry. The 225-acre urban community will ultimately have 4,780 homes and apartments, 480,000 square feet for a retail center and 420,000 square feet for offices. A 14-acre central park recently opened to the public.
